Valley have confirmed their fourth studio album, Do You Need To Be Entertained?, set for release on January 15 through Universal Music Canada/Capitol Records. The news lands with a new single and video, “Don’t You Forget About Me?”, co-written with Chase Lawrence (formerly of COIN).
The band frames the track around the push-and-pull of ending a relationship while still honoring what it meant—loving someone enough to let go, without pretending the connection simply vanishes. It follows earlier album-cycle cuts “Vending Machine” and “Someday”; “Vending Machine” also gave Valley their first No. 1 at Canadian Alternative Radio.
A record about connection and distraction
More than two years in the making, Do You Need To Be Entertained? digs into connection, distraction, and the hunt for meaning in a noisy, fragmented culture. Valley say the songs grew through a stretch of personal change—heartbreak, grief, fear, love, and care—and that studio work leaned harder on instinct and first ideas, including live-off-the-floor takes, tape, and performances that left room for imperfection.
On the album’s central question, the group put it this way: it isn’t only whether you need to be entertained—it’s what you hope to find while you are, and what remains when the noise stops.
World tour: North America, UK, Europe
Valley will take the record on the road across North America, the UK, and Europe. Confirmed stops include Toronto, Chicago, New York, Vancouver, Los Angeles, and Nashville, plus European dates in London, Paris, Berlin, and Amsterdam.
