Tinashe has released Popstar, her eighth studio album and a 16-track, feature-free set that swings from club-leaning experiments to slower futuristic R&B. The project gathers a deep bench of pop and electronic producers, among them Ricky Redd, Zach Sekoff, Fred Ball, Kingdom, Dave Hamelin, Machinedrum, Arca, Illangelo, Camper, kimj, nightfeelings, Couros, Casey Mattson, and Andrew Wells.
The album was previewed by singles “Too Easy,” “Crash Out,” “Pillow Fight,” and “I’d Rather Be Alone,” and arrives with choreography-heavy visuals that underline Tinashe’s genre-blurring approach. She was also announced as a special guest on Harry Styles’ Together, Together Tour for shows in Phoenix at State Farm Stadium on April 2 and 3.
Release-week plans include in-store vinyl signings in New York, Baltimore, Chicago, and Southern California, plus an intimate Grammy Museum live set and Q&A on October 22 at the Ray Charles Rooftop Terrace in Los Angeles.
