The Fall will release Post Script, billed as their definitive final studio album, on October 2, 2026 via Cog Sinister on CD and vinyl. The nine-track set arrives nine years after 2017’s New Facts Emerge and is constructed from archival vocal recordings of late frontman Mark E. Smith dating from 2001 to 2014, with musical backing completed by longtime collaborators and former manager-producers Ed Blaney and Simon Archer.
According to the band’s press materials, the record mixes garage-rock and spoken-word pieces rather than attempting a conventional “lost album” reconstruction. It is framed as the group’s 32nd studio LP and as a closing statement built from Smith’s surviving voice tracks rather than new sessions with a living lineup.
The announcement, reported September 30 by The Quietus, keeps The Fall’s posthumous catalog active while underscoring how much of Smith’s later archive still feeds official releases. Physical editions are the stated focus for the October 2 street date, positioning Post Script for collectors and longtime listeners tracking the band’s final chapter.
