Multi-platinum rock band The Calling has released Before The World Turns To Dust, its first full-length album in 22 years, via TLG | Virgin Music Group. The 15-track set is the group’s first studio album since 2004’s Two, reuniting founding singer-songwriter Alex Band with guitarist-keyboardist Daniel Damico and bassist Dom Liberati.
Band said the project finally locked in after years of stalled attempts, pointing to the current lineup and team as the reason the record could land without chasing trends. Lead single “Dust” is already climbing radio, hitting No. 32 with a bullet in its second week on the Mediabase Hot AC chart—the band’s first campaign at the format in more than two decades—while The Calling recently passed 10 million monthly listeners on Spotify.
Produced by John Fields and cut in Nashville and Minneapolis, the album pairs the melodic directness that defined early Calling hits with material shaped by the years since. “Wherever You Will Go,” from 2001’s Camino Palmero, reached the Top 5 of the Billboard Hot 100, spent 23 consecutive weeks at No. 1 on Adult Pop Airplay, and has since topped one billion Spotify streams; the band has sold more than 10 million albums worldwide. A release show at Dreamland in Malibu was set for September 25.
