Steven Wilson has detailed his ninth studio album, Requiem For A Village, arriving November 6 on Fiction Records, and released the title track plus a live “Village Sessions” performance clip.
Where 2025’s The Overview looked outward to deep space, the new record shrinks the frame to a fictional British village steeped in hauntological imagery — Stanley Spencer paintings, M.R. James ghost stories, and the uncanny mood of 1970s children’s television. Wilson says he deliberately avoided AI and corrective studio tools, favoring analogue synths, imperfect tuning, and instruments he does not normally play in order to keep audible “thumbprints” in the performances.
The album features narration written by Andy Partridge (XTC) and spoken by David Tennant, with contributions from Randy McStine, Russell Holzman, and Katherine Priddy. Formats include digital, CD, Blu-ray, black and oxblood vinyl editions, and a hardcover book box set with two CDs and Blu-ray.
Wilson hosts a charity DJ night, “Songs From The Village,” at London’s The Social on September 22, with proceeds benefiting Here 2 Belong. He also headlines two sold-out Royal Albert Hall shows on October 28–29 with the Parallax Orchestra and SANSARA Choir, featuring new orchestral arrangements from The Overview and related material.
