GRAMMY-winning guitar duo Rodrigo y Gabriela have released “Somos Como Tú”—the first song in their more than 20-year career to feature lyrics and vocals. The track appears on OurHome, out September 18 via ATO Records, with an accompanying video.
Rodrigo Sánchez takes the lead vocal while Gabriela Quintero answers with a rapid cadence, wrapped in hand percussion and gang vocals. The title translates to “We Are Like You,” and the song speaks to migration, displacement, dignity, and shared humanity. Sánchez has said he wrote it while living in Paris in 2015 but only found a version that felt true to the duo on this album.
OurHome: recorded in Tokyo
Self-produced at NK Sound Tokyo, OurHome returns to acoustic textures after the more electric sound of 2023’s In Between Thoughts…A New World. Collaborators include Japanese jazz pianist Hiromi, former Megadeth guitarist Marty Friedman, cellist Hiyori Okuda, and Kyoto-based guitarist/composer Yukihiro Atsumi. The album was mixed by Dave Sardy and mastered by Stephen Marcussen.
Earlier singles from the project include “Monster” (with a video by manga creator Naoki Urasawa), “Akatsuki” (feat. Hiromi), and the title track “OurHome.”
Tour: North America, then AU/JP and Europe/UK
A North American headline run begins September 30 in Dallas, with further U.S. and Canada dates through November. Australia and Japan follow in January 2027, with Ireland, the U.K., and Europe in spring 2027.
