Kate Nash has announced her new album Cailín, due January 22 via Kill Rock Stars, and shared urgent new single “Spilt Milk” with a video directed by Tom Beard.
The song addresses reproductive rights and bodily autonomy. Nash originally wrote it about abortion law in Ireland before the repeal of the Eighth Amendment in 2018; she says the overturning of Roe v. Wade and rollbacks of sexual-health rights in the U.S. have made it feel newly urgent—questioning why women’s voices are ignored and why people are expected to accept that silence.
Irish heritage at the center
In April, Nash shared a cover of Sinéad O’Connor’s “Famine”, citing the line about English forgetting and Irish remembering history as she dug into her Irish heritage. That track is part of Cailín, which blends punk protest energy with traditional music and themes of family, forgiveness, love, colonialism, inequality, religion, and internalized shame.
Holding dual nationality, Nash has described early musical memories in Ireland—pub sessions, Sharon Shannon gigs, and a culture where musicianship is woven into everyday life.

The announcement follows Nash’s late-2024 Butts for Tour Buses campaign, which used OnlyFans and public protests to spotlight touring losses and pressure on grassroots venues.
