Just “Miley”: a new album, a shorter name, and two nights at the Bowl

Just “Miley”: a new album, a shorter name, and two nights at the Bowl

The homepage now says Miley. So does Instagram. The surname that followed her from Disney through “Flowers” is gone from the public-facing brand, and the first thing attached to the new one-word mark is an album title: Bass Persuades.

The record, her tenth studio album and her first for Atlantic, is dated September 18, 2026. Two Hollywood Bowl shows are booked for October 16 and 18. Promotional portraits went up in heavy red light with a one-word caption. There is no confirmed legal name change. Destiny Hope Cyrus already became Miley Ray Cyrus in 2008; this looks like the Cher/Prince move — keep the paperwork, drop the extra syllable on the marquee. Her father, Billy Ray Cyrus, has publicly treated it that way.

The timing is messy in the way pop careers rarely get to control. Parton, her godmother, died in late August. Coverage of the rebrand has sat next to farewell posts all week. The album still has a street date. The Bowl still has holds. Atlantic still has a first-cycle campaign to run. Going mononymous is an old pop trick; doing it in the same news cycle as a family funeral is not.

What to listen for on the 18th is the actual music, not the missing last name. If Bass Persuades needs a single word on the spine, it will have to earn that the way the last era earned “Flowers”: in the chorus, not in the bio. Until then, the story is a website, a handle, a label change, and two nights in the hills in October.
