MisterWives frontwoman Mandy Lee will release her debut solo album as Cherry Bomb, The Pursuit of Pleasure, on November 13. The announcement arrives with new single “Crash!,” an uptempo dance-pop track Lee has described as fuel for a “crash out” and one of the first songs that set the project’s tone.
Lee framed the record as “all bangers, no ballads,” written through grief and major personal change and built around big pop, dance, and glam theatricality. She has called joy a survival tool through pain and said the album pushes against guilt and shame around desire, pointing to muses from The Birth of Venus to Eve. Earlier Cherry Bomb singles include “Never Be Me (M★ther★cker),” “Digital Girl,” “Sorry You’re Not Sorry,” and “Myriad Reflector.”
An album-release show is booked for November 18 at Los Angeles’ Moroccan Lounge, with tickets on sale October 2. Before then, Cherry Bomb makes her solo festival debut at All Things Go: NYC on September 27 at Forest Hills Stadium, part of the event’s first all-women-led lineup alongside acts including MUNA, Grace Ives, hemlocke springs, and Carly Rae Jepsen.
