Anthraxs long wait is over. Cursum Perficio arrives September 18, 2026 via Megaforce in the United States and Nuclear Blast in Europe — the New York thrash band’s first studio album in ten years, following 2016’s For All Kings. The Latin title translates as “My journey has come to an end.”
To mark the release, the band has issued an official black-and-white video for the title track. Documentary filmmaker Don Argott directed the clip; his credits include Lamb of God’s As The Palaces Burn and a co-director role on Taylor Swift’s The End Of An Era film, according to Rolling Stone as cited in coverage. The video features London May, known for his work as drummer and bassist with Glenn Danzig’s former band Samhain.
“Cursum Perficio is the album’s fourth single, following “It’s For The Kids (May), “The Edge Of Perfection (July), and Everybody’s Got A Plan (August). That staggered rollout kept Anthrax in the conversation through the summer before street date.
Tracking began in earnest in 2022 at Dave Grohl’s Studio 606 in Los Angeles, with production by Jay Ruston and Anthrax. The current lineup — Scott Ian (guitar), Charlie Benante (drums), Frank Bello (bass), Joey Belladonna (vocals), and Jonathan Donais (guitar) shaped the record over that stretch, mining the bands history while pushing their signature thrash sound.
Release-day plans include a late-night in-store signing at Guestroom Records (1330A Bardstown Rd.) in Louisville, Kentucky, starting at 12:01 a.m. on September 18, right after Anthrax’s set at the Louder Than Life festival. Space is limited, and fans must pre-order the album through the store to attend.
Physical editions span a standard CD; a Target exclusive CD with a fabric patch; a standard black double LP with pop-up gatefold; Target exclusive red zoetrope double LP; Amazon exclusive purple zoetrope double LP; plus merch, Metal Injection, Talk Shop Live, and indie-exclusive colored vinyl variants, several with pop-up gatefolds and one signed red-ripple edition via Talk Shop Live.
Sonic Perspectives reported the title-track video and album details as the decade gap finally closed. For a band that helped define thrashs first wave, Cursum Perficio is both a milestone and a test of whether the Studio 606 sessions deliver the aggression fans expect after ten quiet years on the album front.
