Powderfinger Announce 18-Show 2027 Reunion Tour, Their First Since the 2010 Farewell

After weeks of cryptic billboards and social media teasers, Powderfinger have made it official: the Brisbane band will reunite for a run of 18 concerts around Australia in September and October 2027. The shows will be the group’s first proper tour since they called it a day with their 2010 farewell run.

The tour opens with four nights at Brisbane Showgrounds, starting on September 3, before moving to Cazalys Stadium in Cairns, Wellington Square in Perth, The Domain in Sydney, Ellis Park in Adelaide and Melbourne Park Oval, where the run closes on October 30. Sydney and Melbourne each get four dates, while Cairns, Perth and Adelaide get two apiece. Every show will be staged outdoors in a central city location under a stadium-sized big top, in an event format the band is pitching as part festival, part spectacle.

All-Australian support bill

No openers have been named yet, but the band has committed to booking only Australian artists, mixing established names with newer acts across different cities. According to ABC News, those announcements are expected in November to coincide with Ausmusic Month. Powderfinger have also teamed up with charity Mission Australia for the tour, with fundraising details still to come.

In a statement, the band said they were thrilled to play together again, explaining that the timing had never felt right for all five members until now. They also said they wanted to bring longtime fans together with younger listeners, including their own children, who never had the chance to see them live.

Tickets

Pre-sales for mailing list subscribers and Telstra customers start on Wednesday, October 14, followed by a Live Nation pre-sale on October 16 and the general on-sale on Monday, October 19, with times staggered by state.

Formed in 1989, Powderfinger became one of the most successful acts in Australian music, collecting 18 ARIA Awards and five No. 1 albums. Their last show took place at Brisbane’s Riverstage on November 13, 2010, and the five members last came together for a remote livestream in May 2020 that raised more than $500,000 for Support Act and Beyond Blue.
