Icelandic singer-songwriter Laufey has signed with Universal Music Group’s Interscope Records and Verve Records, marking her first major-label home after six years as an independent artist.
Variety first reported the deal on September 16, 2026. The dual-label arrangement mirrors her mix of contemporary pop writing and jazz-rooted performance, a blend that helped her introduce younger audiences to standards-era harmony and orchestration.
While releasing through AWAL, she built more than seven billion combined global streams across three studio albums, won the Grammy for Best Traditional Pop Vocal Album twice (for Bewitched and A Matter of Time), and was named one of Time’s 2025 Women of the Year. She was also knighted in Iceland and published the children’s book Mei Mei the Bunny, which became a New York Times bestseller.
She recently finished the 70-date A Matter of Time arena tour with a sold-out Mexico City finale drawing more than 17,000 fans, according to her label announcement coverage. Last month she curated the fourth “A Very Laufey Day,” staging arts events in 75 cities across more than 25 countries, with proceeds directed to the Laufey Foundation.
Laufey is already working on new music for the Interscope/Verve era. No release date has been announced.
