BMG has deepened its partnership with Jean-Michel Jarre, taking an exclusive licensing role across his recorded catalog and future works in a broad set of territories worldwide.
The expansion was announced on September 17, 2026. BMG already controlled recordings from Jarre’s first three albums through its 2012 purchase of Francis Dreyfus Music, and in 2022 acquired his publishing catalog—including Oxygène and Équinoxe—in what the company has called its largest single deal in France.
Jarre said the closer alliance fits BMG’s European cultural identity and arrives as new technology widens creative options. BMG senior creative advisor Alistair Norbury framed the move as long-term stewardship for a catalog that has shaped electronic music for decades. Jarre has released 22 studio albums over five decades and staged outdoor spectacles that drew millions, including a 1997 Moscow concert estimated at 3.5 million attendees.
This year marks the 50th anniversary of Oxygène (1976). Jarre is guest of honor at the 30th Amsterdam Dance Event (October 21–25), opening with a sold-out “Oxygène & Beyond” concert at AFAS Live. Thames & Hudson publishes his book Machines: A History of Electronic Music on October 8. BMG said further Oxygène anniversary plans will follow.
