Aaron Dessner is launching Long Pond Music, a new label partnership with Interscope Records named after his Hudson Valley studio. The National multi-instrumentalist and producer told Billboard the imprint is meant as a slower-burn home for artists who need time and space to develop, with Long Pond itself treated as part of the creative instrument.
First signee Hudson Ingram is a frequent collaborator who already works extensively at the studio—an approach Dessner expects to remain central for future artists. He cites strong working relationships with Interscope’s Charlie Christie and John Janick and says the goal is fostering growth rather than building a sprawling empire.
Dessner previously co-founded Brassland to release early National records and later experimented with the PEOPLE collective alongside Justin Vernon. In the Billboard On the Record conversation he also reflected on longevity, collaboration with acts from Taylor Swift to Noah Kahan and Gracie Abrams, and why he still wants outlets for music that might otherwise struggle to find the right industry home.
